Enchanted Tea Party

We recently had the opportunity to design a wedding shower which reflected a whimsical, ethereal, and perfectly feminine style. The mood we worked to convey was highlighted by vintage touches as well as bright, vibrant floral displays. Centerpieces consisted of our antique mirror trays, victorian books covered in moss, glass terrariums filled with roses and greenery, and brass and lace details to tie everything in. Our personal favorite detail of the guest tables however, was our vintage glassware, giving the event space a classic, yet fun vibe, mixing pastel colors and different textures. Guests were given vintage tea cup and saucer sets which we sourced in various antique shops and rummage sales over the course of the past six months. They gave the guest tables an elegant, delicate touch they needed to further display the event’s tea party scheme. Finally, our vintage lounge set with pastel velvet sofas and antique details framed the event space beautifully, and offered a cozy corner for guests to sit and chat. This is one of our favorite designs so far, and we can’t wait to start designing our next big event!

Green, Serene Summer Dream

On July 6th, we had the pleasure of designing a whimsical, vintage-inspired wedding for our couple Tara & Roger. Tara and I (Elisabeth), met in the most unexpected way, and quickly discovered that we had a shared love of weddings with a vintage, bohemian style esthetic. I filled her in on the services we here at Blue Violet provide, and she informed me of her wedding venue, which just so happened to be my cousin’s winery! It was meant to be that we met! Over the next few months, we exchanged design ideas, and worked to develop a design plan that felt light and ethereal, yet dramatic with the implementation of our vintage lounge sets and table decor.  The color palette needed to feel natural with elements such as greenery and white garden roses, with a hint of brass to add dimension. On the day of the event, it was amazing to see all of our antique pieces come to life, while highlighting a fun, light and airy atmosphere. Our family’s venue, Spring Lake Winery, provided the perfect outdoor setting to showcase our work, and allowed for an idyllic, natural, bohemian feel.  Every piece of furniture we included in the design of the event originated in the victorian era, and offered a sophisticated, timeless elegance to the esthetic of the wedding. Our antique brass candlesticks tied in the vintage feel, bringing a hint of drama to both the head and guest tables. The eucalyptus and greenery garlands placed on the head table, bar and display tables felt fresh and eclectic. Tara & Roger are a picture-perfect couple, and their wedding reflected that. Tara’s bubbly, sweet personality made her an absolute joy to work with, and there’s no doubt that the Whitfield wedding will be one to remember!

Victorian Romance Revival

With brass elements playing a big part in recent bridal trends, we’ve been on the hunt for antique brass candlesticks. After searching through nearly a dozen antique shops and rummage sales, we were able to successfully collect some beautiful and unique pieces. We ended up with almost one hundred different brass candlesticks and lanterns dating back to the late 1800s into the Victorian Era. These pieces will pair perfectly with centerpiece displays and table decor, contributing to ideal bohemian events! Though these vintage finds had some original beauty, they were in desperate need of restoration. Their exterior showed years of use through a coating of patina, and we were dying to uncover the brass finish underneath. We found the most effective cleaner possible and went to work, polishing the brass pieces. After the restoration process, we were able to return the antiques back to their former glory, with candlesticks ranging in color from gold to rose gold tones. They turned out even better than expected, and we can’t wait to incorporate these pieces into our upcoming events!

Steel Blues & Cool Hues

As Spring time approaches here in Buffalo, NY, we’ve begun to reminisce on everything we love about winter. Though us Buffalonians are anticipating a much-deserved heat wave, we still have a bit of icey weather to endure. So rather than dreading the extended Winter, we’ve decided to appreciate the beauty in this transitional season. At Blue Violet, we love how the monochromatic cool tones of the snowy scenery are highlighted by little glimpses of sunlight that peak through the clouds, showing the hope and promise of Spring. Though it seems like a dreary time of year, the quick moments of warmth showcase the two seasons colliding, and offer inspiration for our designs. Steel blues and serene greens as a color palette provide both calmness and comfort, similar to local Buffalo landscapes. A pop of color like magenta, coral pink or gold represents beams of sunlight, warming up this style esthetic. We’ve noticed this color combination in recent bridal trends as well, placing a heavy emphasis on cool tones and bright accent colors. We hope you enjoy our mood board displaying this design trend and get a look into how we gain our inspiration!

Love Always,

The BV Team
