Our Story

We are a mother-daughter team with a lifelong love of vintage decor and bohemian style. Our shared passion for rescuing antiques and giving them a new life began with refurbishing vintage furniture. This hobby has grown into a business dedicated to up-cycling antiques of all types, and incorporating them into custom-styled events. Floral design has come naturally to us, growing up around extensive family gardens and cut-flowers. Our love of whimsical wild flowers has inspired our design esthetic, creating abstract, bespoke floral pieces. Floral design has now become our biggest passion, and it’s been a dream sharing our expertise with couples in the Western New York area.

My passion for design began at a young age, learning the skill of sewing and design from my grandmother and mother. My love of fashion led me to pursue my dream by moving to New York City and attending college at The Fashion Institute of Technology, and studying the trade of Fashion Merchandising Management. Though I enjoyed the excitement of the city, I moved back to Buffalo following graduation, missing family and a simpler life. Upon returning to Buffalo, I worked as a visual merchandiser and designed displays, graphics and interiors for fashion retail. This is part of the reason why I love creating large floral installations, and the visual impact they make on a space. This experience gave me the background necessary to design and stage weddings, as well as create statement floral pieces. I work at bringing an urban, modern edge to the esthetic of Blue Violet’s design. I love connecting with clients and sharing my styling expertise with the Western New York community!

Design is something that has always been a part of my life, sewing along side my mother and producing custom garments. This passion eventually led me to other creative outlets, including repurposing antiques into home accessories. I have always had an appreciation for antique decor and finding the beauty in rustic pieces. I raised my daughter, Elisabeth on antique hunting and developing an eye for unique home furnishings. On the weekends we would stay at our cottage in Allegany County, NY, and search for any hidden treasures that the small Southern-Tier towns had to offer. We still practice this ritual today, turning our weekend hobby into a career. My love of refurbishing antique furniture has grown into a passion for creating beautiful, one-of-a-kind events. With a life-long passion for gardening, I’ve always loved flowers. Now that I get to create florals for clients, it’s so meaningful to contribute to such important moments in their lives. Working with Elisabeth and sharing our art with clients is a dream and I love nothing more than making couples happy on their special day!
